Job Description

Unilever is looking for a talented and purpose-driven Financial Accountant to support statutory reporting, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and provide key insights for business decisions. Key Responsibilities

Statutory & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare financial statements (Income, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow) in line with IFRS and internal SCOA standards
  • Provide commentary on financial results and assist in quarterly board/audit meetings
  • Publish quarterly results and prepare annual company booklet

Accounting & Compliance

  • Manage General Ledger reporting for Nigeria operations
  • Ensure integrity of balance sheet and profit/loss accounts through regular reconciliations
  • Support global reporting processes and coordinate with external auditors
  • Monitor and interpret key financial ratios

Month-End Close (MEC)

  • Lead month-end activities including checklist coordination and issue resolution
  • Conduct ledger reviews and monitor postings of administrative and indirect costs

System & Process Management

  • Maintain SAP cost center structures
  • Oversee Site Financial Accounts processes (e.g., Ariba, IP, DCIW)
  • Validate payroll changes and support cost control meetings

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Economics, or other numeric disciplines
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent)

Experience

  • Proven experience in financial data analysis and statutory reporting
  • Understanding of local tax and accounting regulations
  • Experience identifying financial risks and opportunities

Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Good presentation and communication abilities
  • Ability to interpret data and engage with key stakeholders effectively
